Pakistan’s Information and Broadcasting Minister, Attaullah Tarar, recently addressed the ongoing negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He conveyed a positive outlook, highlighting the constructive impact these discussions are having on the Pakistani stock market and investor confidence.

However, Minister Tarar also expressed regret over the actions of the opposition party, PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf). He accused the party of attempting to sabotage the IMF deal by organizing protests outside the IMF and World Bank headquarters in the US, urging them to withhold the agreement from Pakistan. Minister Tarar condemned PTI’s history of, in his words, “anti-Pakistan policies” and their alleged desire to see the country default on its international obligations. He assured the public that these protests would have no bearing on the negotiations, which will continue as planned.

Looking towards the future, Minister Tarar expressed confidence in Pakistan’s path towards development. He predicted positive outcomes with potential growth in GDP and exports. He emphasized the government’s commitment to making sound economic decisions that will yield positive results. He praised the Finance Minister’s leadership and expertise in tackling economic challenges, highlighting his focus on finding swift solutions.

Minister Tarar reiterated the government’s core mandate: addressing the issues faced by the Pakistani people. He stated that the Prime Minister is firmly committed to leading the country out of its current difficulties. The Minister elaborated on the Prime Minister’s comprehensive plan for economic reforms, which includes restructuring the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to improve tax collection efficiency alongside measures to reduce government spending.
