Pakistan will send its first lunar lander to the moon tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is all set to send its first lunar lander to the moon on May 3.

Named iCube Lunar, the mission will be launched from the Hunan Space Launch Site in China, a testament to the scientific research cooperation between Pakistan and China.

iCube-Q, Pakistan’s lunar cube planet, will be on the Chinese Chang’e-6 mission.

Institute of Space Technology Dr Khurram Khurshid detailed the design and development of the planetarium, highlighting the partnership with China and Pakistan’s national space agency SPARCO. He announced in a statement that on Friday, May 3, at exactly 12:50 PM, Pakistan’s inaugural lunar mission will take off from China, which is a huge success.

“The iCube Lunar is equipped with two cameras to take high-resolution images of the Moon. Our planet will orbit the Moon, providing valuable data for research purposes and Will collect photos”.

He also revealed China’s ambitious plan to land a planet on the moon to collect lunar soil.

IQ OQ is a joint effort between IST, Pakistan’s National Space Agency SUPARCO , and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. IST has a proven track record in cube satellite development, having successfully launched its first cube satellite, iCube-1, in 2013.
