PM Shehbaz, US Secretary Rubio Discuss Iran-Israel Crisis; Pakistan Offers Role in Peace Efforts

ISLAMABAD: In a phone call initiated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered Pakistan’s support for international peace efforts amid the escalating Iran-Israel crisis, calling the situation “alarming for the world” and advocating for diplomatic resolution.

Rubio acknowledged Pakistan’s ties with Iran and encouraged its continued role in regional de-escalation. He also praised Islamabad’s counter-terrorism efforts and reaffirmed U.S. commitment to cooperation on shared security and stability.

PM Sharif lauded President Trump’s leadership and Rubio’s diplomacy, especially their roles in averting conflict between Pakistan and India. He reiterated Pakistan’s willingness to engage India on all key disputes, including Kashmir.

Both sides agreed to expand cooperation in trade, energy, and technology. Sharif invited President Trump and Rubio to visit Pakistan to deepen bilateral ties.
