On economic reforms, President Zardari stressed the need to expand the tax net by ensuring that all eligible taxpayers contribute fairly, without overburdening those already paying taxes. He also emphasized the importance of diversifying exports, particularly focusing on value-added goods and services, and making the IT industry a key driver of economic growth.
The president reiterated his commitment to supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and youth entrepreneurship, urging the government to provide access to loans and skill development initiatives.
In addressing the ongoing security concerns, Zardari highlighted the need for a united front in tackling extremism and terrorism, stressing the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s security forces. He also underscored the importance of enhancing regional cooperation with neighboring countries for trade, cultural exchanges, and economic growth, particularly through projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
On climate change, President Zardari acknowledged Pakistan’s vulnerability and called for focused efforts on biodiversity restoration, water and food security, and ecosystem preservation. He emphasized the need for investment in renewable energy, electric vehicles, and water conservation technologies, as well as strengthening the agriculture sector to cope with climate challenges.
