On Sunday, President Asif Ali Zardari met with a delegation of members of the AJK Legislative Assembly belonging to Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians in Islamabad. During the meeting, the President urged all stakeholders to exercise restraint and resolve the issues in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) through dialogue and mutual consultation.
The President emphasized that political parties, state institutions, and the people of AJK should act responsibly to prevent hostile elements from exploiting the situation to their benefit. He also highlighted that the people’s demands should be addressed as per law and promised to discuss their grievances with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Furthermore, President Zardari stressed the need to prioritize the socio-economic uplift of AJK, focusing on the development of health, education, tourism, and infrastructure. He underlined the importance of bringing the far-flung areas at par with other developed areas of the country.
The President expressed regret over the current situation in AJK and offered condolences for the unfortunate death of the police officer. He also prayed for the swift recovery of all those who were injured in recent clashes.
