The Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, Najam Sethi, attempted to resolve the dispute with Punjab Government over security expenses for Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 8’s Lahore and Rawalpindi leg, by reaching out to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday.
The fate of the tournament hangs in balance as Punjab’s interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi refused to sanction the expenses for the event. Sethi updated the PM on the security expenses issue and received assurances of support and assistance.
The PCB chairman warned that if the government continued demanding payment for security, they would have to move the matches to Karachi. He further emphasized that the PSL is a national event and national institutions should be responsible for its arrangements.
