PTI chairman’s arrest sparks judicial boycott in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Bar Association has announced a protest against the violent treatment of court officials and lawyers during the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan from the Islamabad High Court (IHC), as reported by Republic Policy News on Wednesday.

According to sources, Rizwan Shabbir Kiani, the Secretary of the Islamabad Bar Association, has called for a judicial boycott and demanded an investigation into the incidents of violence and vandalism at the registry branch of the High Court during Imran Khan’s arrest.

The boycott aims to draw attention to the torture of lawyers and the violation of their rights. Kiani warned institutions that violate the Constitution of Pakistan to refrain from illegal actions and emphasized that the judiciary and lawyers are prepared to go to any extent to protect the Constitution and the rule of law.
