Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday voiced serious concern over the health of its imprisoned founder, Imran Khan, warning that he is suffering from a critical eye condition that could result in permanent loss of vision if not treated urgently.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, the party said it had received credible information that the former prime minister had been diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion in his right eye, a condition caused by a blockage that severely affects eyesight. According to PTI, doctors who examined him inside the jail described the condition as highly sensitive and warned that any delay in proper treatment could lead to irreversible damage.
The party alleged that despite clear medical advice, prison authorities were insisting that treatment be provided within the jail, even though specialists had reportedly said the procedure requires an operation theatre and advanced facilities unavailable on prison premises.
Calling the situation alarming, PTI said the continued delay and denial of appropriate medical care posed a serious threat to Imran Khan’s vision and overall health. The party warned that authorities would bear responsibility if his condition worsened or resulted in permanent harm.
