The Russian military continued to unleash destruction on Ukrainian cities over the weekend as they aimed to expand their territory in the eastern part of the country. However, Ukrainian officials reported that Moscow was having difficulty initiating their planned large-scale attack.

On Sunday morning, shelling in the city of Nikopol resulted in one fatality and one injury, according to Governor Serhii Lysak. The shelling caused damage to four homes, a vocational school, and a water treatment plant. In Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine, one person was injured after three Russian S-300 missiles struck various facilities overnight, as reported by regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov.

Ukrainian forces successfully took down five enemy drones, including four Shahed killer drones and one Orlan-10 reconnaissance drone, in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions on Saturday night, according to the Ukrainian military.

As the Russian military presses forward in its attempts to seize more land in the industrial heartland of Donbas, comprised of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, both Ukrainian and Western officials have issued warnings of a potential new broad offensive by Russia in an effort to alter the outcome of the ongoing conflict.
