Scottie Scheffler dominates Players Championship, claims world No. 1 spot and $4.5 million prize.

On a windy afternoon in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, Scottie Scheffler put on another flawless performance to clinch the Players Championship title with a commanding five-shot victory over Tyrrell Hatton. With a winning score of 17-under 271, Scheffler secured his sixth career title and second in his last four starts, taking home the PGA Tour’s richest purse of $4.5 million.

The American golfer, who now holds both the Masters and Players Championship titles, joined the ranks of Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. Scheffler attributed his success to patience, saying, “I did a really good job of staying patient, not trying to force things, and then I got hot kind of in the middle of the round and tried to put things away as quickly as I could.”

Starting the day with a two-shot lead, Scheffler initially struggled by going one-over through seven holes. However, he rallied and carded five consecutive birdies from the eighth to leave his competitors behind. Hatton, who closed with a 65, finished in second place, six shots behind Scheffler.

With this win, Scheffler reclaimed the number one spot from Jon Rahm and demonstrated his readiness to defend his Green Jacket at next month’s Masters.
