Sagar Siddiqui’s real name was Muhammad Akhtar. He was born in 1928 in Anbala. Sagar Siddiqui was a great poet of Urdu who used to sift the dust day and night on the streets of Lahore, talking in the eyes of the government, whom people thought to be crazy. Sagar’s simple and powerful poems used to thrill the chest and melt the heart. Sagar was surprised to see how such beautiful poems were written by such a rough and dirty person. Don’t look at us with disdain, we are the poets of Sagar Siddiqui, not only of our era, but of this era and the coming era as well. Sagar Siddiqui was not always like this. After the partition of Pakistan, when he came to Lahore from Amritsar, he was a slim and well-dressed young man. He had curly hair who wore a boski shirt with trousers. Who used to do interesting things. Who used to steal the audience with his poetry and hymns, whose chest was full of aspirations and courage. Sagar Siddiqui Latif used to take corrections on his words from Anwar Gurdas Puri. Write poems in addition to ghazals. Quota, quartet left a special collection in each genre. Sagar traveled from Amritsar to Lahore. Wrote songs for films. Stayed in Lahore’s Anar Kali Bazar and had a good time. It is said that Sagar eventually became addicted to drugs and used to lie intoxicated in the streets of Lahore. This great poet of Pakistan died due to stroke on 19 July 1974 and was buried in Miani Sahib Cemetery.
