World-renowned Columbian popstar Shakira on Saturday reacted to Morocco’s historic win over Brazil in the FIFA world cup 2022 marking Morocco s journey into the semi-finals.
The “Wakka Wakka (This time for Africa)” singer took to Twitter and wrote “This time for Africa”. Her tweet was retweeted more than a hundred thousand times – much higher than the average retweets she normally gets.
The 3.22-minute long song was released as the official song of the FIFA world cup 2010 played in South Africa, and its video has been watched over a billion times on Youtube since then. The song video recorded Shakira shaking a leg to the groovy song that helped her garner world-wide recognition.
Earlier, Morocco became the first African country to reach the World Cup semifinals by beating Portugal 1-0 on Saturday, likely ending Cristiano Ronaldo’s chances of ever winning soccer’s biggest prize.
