Cairo: America’s Head of State, Antony Blinken, calls for “serenity” and “defusing tensions” as clashes break out between Israel and Palestine, as he embarks on his tour of the Middle East in Cairo on Monday.
After meeting with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and the nation’s foreign minister, Blinken sets off to Israel and Palestinian regions.
Israel has suffered from a fatal attack, claiming the lives of seven noncombatants outside a church in eastern Jerusalem on Friday, a day after the bloodiest military operation in years in the occupied West Bank resulted in ten casualties.
“We have witnessed repugnant acts of terrorism in recent days that we firmly condemn and abominate,” Blinken declared to private news channel. During a press conference in Cairo on Monday, Blinken encourages “all parties to calm the situation and alleviate tensions” while also underlining the “importance of pursuing a two-state solution”.
