Asif Ali Zardari, the joint candidate of the PPP and the PML-N, and Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the candidate from the Sunni Ittehad Council, are competing for the position of President.

Today, their nomination papers were submitted for the upcoming presidential elections scheduled for the 9th of this month. The scrutiny of these nomination papers will take place on Monday.

The President is elected by an electoral college consisting of members from the Senate, National Assembly, and the four provincial assemblies. The voting process is conducted via a secret ballot.
