Pakistan Nominates U.S. President Donald Trump for 2026 Nobel Peace Prize Over Role in India-Pakistan Crisis
Pakistan has formally announced its intention to recommend U.S. President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership during the 2025 India-Pakistan crisis.
In an official statement posted on X, the Government of Pakistan emphasized:
“President Trump’s leadership during the 2025 Pakistan-India crisis exemplifies the continuation of his legacy in pragmatic diplomacy and effective peace-building.”
The statement further noted that the international community had witnessed India’s unprovoked and unlawful aggression—an act constituting a serious violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. This assault resulted in the tragic loss of innocent lives, including women, children, and the elderly.
In response, Pakistan exercised its inherent right to self-defense through Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, described as a measured, precise, and resolute military operation aimed at re-establishing deterrence and safeguarding national territory, while taking deliberate care to avoid civilian casualties.
During a period of heightened regional instability, President Trump was praised for his strategic foresight and statesmanship. Through sustained diplomatic engagement with both Islamabad and New Delhi, he played a key role in defusing tensions, facilitating a ceasefire, and averting a broader conflict.
“This intervention underscores his stature as a true peacemaker and reflects his deep commitment to resolving disputes through dialogue,” the post continued.
Pakistan’s government also acknowledged President Trump’s longstanding willingness to help mediate the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, which it described as central to peace and stability in South Asia. It reiterated that sustainable peace in the region remains unattainable without the implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions on Kashmir.
Separately, during a recent meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, President Trump lauded Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace and its active cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts.
According to a statement by ISPR, the U.S. President commended Field Marshal Munir’s leadership and decisive approach in navigating complex regional dynamics, and also expressed interest in building a long-term, strategically aligned trade partnership with Pakistan based on mutual interests.
