Diplomatic Outreach: Jaishankar Updates Xi on Bilateral Ties

[post-views]

Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar held a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday during the high-level engagements surrounding the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. The interaction took place as part of a broader diplomatic exchange involving foreign ministers from SCO member states who had gathered in China for the multilateral event.

Jaishankar, representing India in the ministerial delegation, stated that he briefed President Xi on the current status and recent developments in India-China bilateral relations. Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Jaishankar shared a photograph of his handshake with the Chinese leader and remarked: “Apprised President Xi of the recent development of our bilateral ties.”

In a parallel engagement, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also met with President Xi, as confirmed by Russian officials, underscoring the Chinese leader’s separate interactions with key figures from both India and Russia during the summit.
