Over 40 individuals are missing following a boat accident in Nigeria, where a vessel carrying 50 people capsized on Sunday in northwest Sokoto State. The boat was en route to the well-known Goronyo market, a major food produce hub in the region, when the incident occurred. According to Zubaidar Umar, head of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), 10 people have been rescued so far. NEMA confirmed that it is working alongside local authorities and emergency teams to continue the search and rescue efforts. This incident follows a similar tragedy just three weeks ago, when at least 13 lives were lost and many others went missing after a boat carrying approximately 100 passengers capsized in Niger State, located in north-central Nigeria.
