Former US Vice President Mike Pence has issued a stark warning that Russia could cross NATO’s borders if Ukraine falls to Moscow’s ongoing war. In an interview with BBC Newsnight, Pence said there is “no doubt” that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not stop at Ukraine if his military objectives are achieved, and that it would only be “a matter of time” before a NATO member country is targeted.
Pence stressed that the West must not waver in its support for Kyiv, urging strong security guarantees for Ukraine to ensure what he described as a “just and lasting peace.” He argued that history has shown aggression left unchecked only emboldens authoritarian regimes, and that NATO’s credibility is directly tied to the outcome of the conflict in Ukraine.
The former US Vice President’s remarks come at a time when Washington and European capitals are debating the future of military and financial support for Ukraine, amid war fatigue and domestic political divisions. Pence insisted that a firm Western stance is essential to prevent broader instability across Europe.
