PPP Rejects 27th Amendment Proposal

[post-views]

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has rejected the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment, declaring that it will not compromise on provincial autonomy or the provinces’ share in the National Finance Commission (NFC). Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced after a meeting of the PPP Central Executive Committee (CEC) that the party supports only the amendment concerning Article 243, which pertains to the armed forces.

Bilawal said that while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s government had sought PPP’s backing for the amendment, the CEC unanimously opposed clauses linked to the NFC, the creation of a Constitutional Court, and revival of executive magistrates. He stressed that the PPP will accept only reforms ensuring equal representation of all provinces.
