Pakistan and Jordan reaffirmed their resolve to deepen bilateral cooperation as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein in Islamabad. The meeting opened with the prime minister welcoming the Jordanian monarch and describing his visit as a symbol of the enduring friendship between the two countries. Both leaders agreed that the moment was right to expand engagement across economic, trade, investment, education, health, science and technology, and defence sectors, building on their shared vision for regional stability.

King Abdullah appreciated Pakistan’s consistent diplomatic support regarding the Gaza crisis. He thanked Islamabad for backing Jordan’s humanitarian and post-war stabilisation efforts as conditions in Gaza continue to deteriorate. The two leaders discussed the worsening situation in the enclave and reaffirmed their opposition to any arrangement that could result in the displacement of Palestinians. They also agreed to intensify coordination with the eight Arab and Islamic countries that worked with the United States to secure the Gaza Peace Accord in Sharm El-Sheikh.

The conversation also covered broader regional developments. Prime Minister Sharif briefed King Abdullah on Pakistan’s neighbourhood, including the evolving situation in Afghanistan and tensions with India. The Jordanian monarch acknowledged Pakistan’s role in promoting regional stability and addressing security challenges in South Asia.

Following the meeting, Pakistan and Jordan exchanged several MoUs aimed at strengthening cooperation in media, culture and education. Officials said these agreements would give new momentum to bilateral relations by institutionalising long-term collaboration. The prime minister later hosted a dinner in honour of King Abdullah and his delegation. The visit, attended by senior civil and military officials including Field Marshal Asim Munir and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, is expected to further energise Pakistan-Jordan ties.
