Indonesian President Begins First Official Visit to Pakistan

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will arrive in Pakistan on December 8 for a two-day official visit on the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This is his first visit to Pakistan and the first high-level presidential trip from Indonesia since 2018, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties. A senior delegation, including key ministers and officials, will accompany him.

President Subianto will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Sharif and meet President Asif Ali Zardari. He will also be called on by the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

Both sides are expected to discuss a comprehensive agenda to expand cooperation in politics, trade, investment, defence, health, IT, climate resilience, education, and cultural exchange. Several agreements and memoranda of understanding are likely to be signed during the visit.

The Foreign Office said Pakistan and Indonesia share longstanding ties grounded in shared values and mutual interests, and the visit is set to further deepen bilateral relations at regional and multilateral levels.
