Global air travel continues to face severe disruption after the war involving Iran forced the closure of key Middle Eastern aviation hubs such as Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi. The shutdown of these major transit points has left tens of thousands of passengers stranded as airlines around the world cancel or reduce flights across the region.
Several international carriers have suspended routes to major destinations including Tel Aviv, Dubai, Beirut and Riyadh. Greek airline Aegean cancelled flights to Tel Aviv until March 20 and to Dubai and Abu Dhabi until March 19. Canada’s Air Canada halted its Tel Aviv flights until May 2 and Dubai services until March 28.
Major European airlines have also scaled back operations. Air France suspended flights to Tel Aviv and Beirut, while KLM paused services to Dubai, Riyadh and Tel Aviv for the remainder of its winter schedule. The Lufthansa Group, which includes Lufthansa, Swiss and Austrian Airlines, suspended flights to multiple Middle Eastern cities including Tehran, Beirut and Dubai.
Airlines in Asia and North America have also been affected. Japan Airlines suspended its Tokyo-Doha route, while Delta cancelled New York–Tel Aviv flights until late March.
Despite the widespread cancellations, some carriers such as Emirates, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways are operating limited schedules as aviation authorities monitor the evolving security situation in the region.
