DUBAI: Iran’s intelligence ministry has detained 97 individuals accused of acting as “soldiers of Israel,” according to state media on Thursday. This is part of a wider security operation that has already seen hundreds arrested over alleged links to Israel and the United States since the outbreak of the ongoing war.
Earlier on Thursday, Iranian state media reported that police in Alborz province had arrested 41 people for allegedly sending videos and information to opposition media channels based abroad. The crackdown is seen as a continuation of Tehran’s intensified efforts to root out suspected spies and foreign collaborators amid growing regional tensions.
Authorities have emphasized that these arrests are necessary to protect national security and prevent the spread of information that could undermine Iran’s internal stability. Analysts suggest the operation reflects Iran’s heightened concerns over foreign influence and espionage during a period of increased conflict, signaling a firm stance against anyone accused of aiding external adversaries.
The Iranian government has not yet provided details about legal proceedings against the detainees.
