The Power Division has resolved 11,695 pending net metering applications and begun directly contacting affected consumers to update them on their cases.
According to a statement issued on Saturday, the cases were processed on the special directives of Federal Minister for Power Division Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari.
The initiative is aimed at ensuring that eligible consumers receive their rights under the relevant rules without having to depend on agents, intermediaries or other third parties to process their applications.
A total of 16,654 applications had remained pending during the transition from the net metering system to the net billing framework. Authorities subsequently launched a comprehensive verification and validation exercise to process the cases on a priority basis.
The Pakistan Information Technology Company has also started contacting consumers directly to provide timely information about the verification of their applications and the next steps in the process.
Consumers are being approached through SMS, WhatsApp and other digital channels. The Power Division stressed that applicants are not required to pay any individual or intermediary to expedite or further process their cases.
The verification and validation of the remaining 4,959 applications is currently underway.
Leghari said resolving legitimate public grievances without unnecessary delays or interference remained a government priority.
He also directed the relevant organisations to accelerate scrutiny of the remaining applications and ensure that consumers receive clear and transparent information about the status of their cases.
