Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s diplomatic efforts, stressing that building trust is essential to enable meaningful dialogue and mediation amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
During a detailed phone call, the Iranian leader praised Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting peace and shared his perspective on the ongoing conflict involving Israel and Iran. Both sides discussed the deteriorating regional situation and explored avenues to reduce hostilities.
The conversation comes as a high-level diplomatic initiative gathers momentum in Islamabad. Foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt are scheduled to arrive for talks aimed at easing tensions.
According to officials, Prime Minister Shehbaz strongly condemned recent Israeli attacks on Iranian territory, including strikes on civilian infrastructure, and expressed solidarity with the Iranian people. He also conveyed condolences over significant loss of life and wished a swift recovery for the injured.
The premier highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic outreach, involving the United States and Gulf nations, to create space for negotiations. He reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to playing a constructive role in achieving regional peace and stability.
