Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Saudi Arabia’s “measured and responsible approach” during the ongoing Middle East crisis in a meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in Islamabad, according to an official statement issued on Sunday.

The meeting followed a high-level quadrilateral ministerial dialogue hosted in Islamabad, attended by the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkiye. During the discussion, the prime minister outlined Pakistan’s active diplomatic engagement in the crisis, including efforts to ease tensions and encourage dialogue between the United States and Iran.

The Saudi foreign minister briefed the premier on Riyadh’s current assessment of the regional situation. In response, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s consistent support and solidarity with the Kingdom.

He underscored Saudi Arabia’s central leadership role within the Muslim world and highlighted the importance of unity among Islamic nations at a critical juncture. The prime minister also recalled his recent interactions with Mohammed bin Salman, including their meeting in Jeddah earlier this month, noting that both countries remain committed to close coordination for regional peace and stability.

Upon arrival at the Prime Minister’s Office, Prince Faisal was received by Syed Tariq Fatemi. The meeting was also attended by Ishaq Dar and Asim Malik.

Separately, PM Shehbaz also held meetings with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, who were in Islamabad for the same ministerial consultations.
