Pakistan Raises Petrol and Diesel Prices Amid Regional Concerns

[post-views]

The government of Pakistan has increased the prices of petroleum products, raising petrol by Rs6.51 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs19.39 per litre, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy.

Under the new rates, petrol has been fixed at Rs399.86 per litre, up from Rs393.35, while high-speed diesel now costs Rs399.58 per litre compared to Rs380.19 earlier. The revised prices will take effect from May 1 across the country.

The announcement comes shortly after authorities dismissed viral claims about an alleged shutdown of petrol pumps, calling them baseless and misleading. The Petroleum Division clarified that fuel supply remains stable and uninterrupted nationwide.

Officials urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information, warning that such rumours create unnecessary panic. They further stated that despite regional tensions, Pakistan’s fuel supply chain continues to operate smoothly, and the government is taking steps to ensure consistent availability in the future.
