RAWALPINDI: Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will lead a special ceremony at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Sunday to mark one year since Pakistan’s victory in the 2025 conflict with India, known as “Marka-e-Haq”.
According to Radio Pakistan, the event will be attended by senior military leadership, including Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf. Field Marshal Asim Munir will be the chief guest and is expected to address the ceremony.
The programme will begin with the laying of a wreath at the martyrs’ monument, followed by a salute presented by contingents of the army, air force and navy to honour those who lost their lives during the conflict.
The confrontation between Pakistan and India began after the April 22, 2025 attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people. India blamed Pakistan for the incident, while Islamabad strongly denied the allegations.
Tensions sharply increased after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, cancelled visas for Pakistanis and reduced diplomatic ties. The conflict later turned military, with missile strikes, aerial combat and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos becoming key developments before a ceasefire was announced on May 10, 2025 following diplomatic efforts led by the United States.
