ISLAMABAD: The government has assured traders that their proposals for a simplified taxation system will be considered while preparing the federal budget for 2026-27.
Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani gave the assurance during a meeting with a delegation of Markazi Tanzeem Tajran Pakistan led by its President Kashif Chaudhry on Saturday. The discussion focused on challenges being faced by the retail and wholesale business sectors.
During the meeting, traders presented several proposals aimed at making the taxation and regulatory system more business-friendly. They also highlighted difficulties in the current tax structure and urged the government to simplify procedures to encourage voluntary tax compliance.
The business community strongly demanded the introduction of an “Asan Tax Scheme” in the upcoming budget, saying it would help expand the tax net and improve trust between traders and tax authorities.
Officials said the government is continuing consultations with different stakeholders ahead of the budget to ensure inclusive economic policymaking.
Bilal Azhar Kayani said the government remained committed to addressing traders’ concerns and promoting a supportive environment for businesses, investment and employment growth across the country.
