The Government of Pakistan has condemned in the strongest possible terms recent comments made by the Indian defense minister regarding the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, calling them highly provocative and irresponsible.
In a statement, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the minister’s remarks distort the facts surrounding the internationally recognized Jammu and Kashmir dispute, which remains on the agenda of the UN Security Council, and reflect what he described as a deliberate Indian policy to threaten regional and international peace and security.
Andrabi said such insinuations represent an attempt to divert attention from India’s continued occupation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, its sponsorship of terrorism across the region, and its domestic instability.
Pakistan has urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take note of what it called India’s continued rogue behavior and to hold it accountable for failing to implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions guaranteeing the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
