Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Jeddah on Thursday for a three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia, undertaken at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Emir of Makkah, Prince Saud bin Mishaal, received Sharif at King Abdulaziz International Airport. Also present were Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley, Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf Al-Malki, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmad Farooq, and other senior officials.
According to Pakistan Television, the visit comes against the backdrop of the evolving regional situation and is expected to further expand strategic cooperation, strengthen bilateral ties, and enhance coordination between the two countries on regional and international issues. Sharif will hold extensive talks with the Saudi Crown Prince, with discussions centred on deepening Saudi-Pakistani relations and addressing the latest regional developments. He will also perform Umrah and visit the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah during his stay.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Information Minister Atta Tarar, and other senior officials are accompanying the prime minister on the visit.
During his stay, Sharif is scheduled to meet directly with the Crown Prince, and will separately travel to Madinah Munawara to pay his respects at the Roza-e-Rasool. A press release from the Prime Minister’s Office described the visit as a reflection of the decades-long fraternal ties, mutual trust, and close brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
