Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday reaffirmed Pakistan’s deep appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s steadfast support and generous assistance to the country, along with its pivotal role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
The remarks came as Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki paid a farewell call on the prime minister at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad, marking the completion of his official tenure in Pakistan, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Ambassador Al-Malki has served in Pakistan since 2017.
Sharif congratulated the ambassador on successfully completing his assignment and praised his outstanding contribution toward further strengthening the deep-rooted fraternal and strategic ties between the two countries. The prime minister also conveyed his regards and best wishes for the health and well-being of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
In response, the outgoing ambassador expressed profound gratitude to the prime minister and the government for the warmth, cooperation, and hospitality extended to him throughout his posting, describing his time in Pakistan as a deeply memorable and rewarding experience. He reaffirmed his commitment to continuing to strengthen Pakistan-Saudi ties. Sharif, in turn, wished the ambassador success in his future endeavours.
Al-Malki’s farewell visits have extended across Pakistan’s leadership in recent days. On Sunday, he paid a farewell visit to President Asif Ali Zardari, who similarly praised his contribution to strengthening the two countries’ longstanding fraternal and strategic bilateral relationship. On August 19, he had also called on PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
