Pakistan Rejects Claims of US Navy Operations Against Iran From Its Territory

[post-views]

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has rejected social media claims that the United States Navy is operating from Pakistani territory against Iran with Islamabad’s approval, calling the reports baseless propaganda.

In a statement published on its fact-check account, the ministry said the claim originated from a North America-based social media account and was subsequently circulated online to create confusion and spread misinformation.

The ministry described the allegation as part of a wider attempt to create misunderstanding and chaos, adding that falsehood would not prevail over the truth.

The clarification came hours after Pakistan temporarily suspended cross-border trade with Iran in Balochistan over security concerns.

Chagai Deputy Commissioner Bakhtiar Ismail confirmed the suspension in a post on X, saying the measure was intended to improve border management and support counterterrorism efforts.

He added that the border would reopen once effective security measures were in place.

The temporary closure has raised concerns among traders, who have warned of substantial financial losses if the suspension continues.

Pakistan’s statement sought to dismiss speculation about its alleged involvement in US military operations against Iran, while officials cited security and border management as the reasons for the trade suspension.
