UAE Pledges Additional €15 Billion Investment in Greece

[post-views]

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will invest a further 15 billion euros ($16.81 billion) in Greece, the Abu Dhabi Media Office announced on Thursday, expanding an investment partnership already in place between the two countries.

The announcement came during an official visit to Greece by Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During the visit, Sheikh Khaled held talks with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on widening bilateral cooperation, with energy, infrastructure and healthcare among the key areas discussed.

According to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the fresh funds will come on top of the €4 billion pledged in 2022 under a joint investment initiative. The statement did not give details of the specific projects or sectors that would receive the new investment.

The UAE has steadily deepened its economic footprint in Greece in recent years. Last year, Emirati renewable energy company Masdar completed its full takeover of Greek firm Terna Energy, having first acquired a 70 per cent stake in 2024 at an enterprise value of €3.2 billion.
