IMF regulations to raise inflation in Pakistan by 40%, according to Hammad Azhar

[post-views]

Former energy minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hammad Azhar warned on Sunday that if the PDM’s coalition government adopts the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) criteria for the ninth review of Pakistan’s $7 billion Extended Fund Facility, inflation will soar by 40%. (EFF).

Speaking at a ceremony, the former minister also predicted a serious food crisis. He accused the PML-N-led coalition government of bringing the economy to the brink of collapse during the last nine months.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, he added, should reassure the country about the concerns. “Pakistan will have to decide on a new programme with the IMF because the current agreement with the international lending body will expire in December.”
