The Pakistan Army has dispatched two units to Turkey to provide relief in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes that recently struck the country and Syria, leaving more than 4,000 dead and causing damage to over 5,000 buildings.
According to a statement from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army has sent a “Urban Search & Rescue Team” made up of rescue specialists, search equipment, and sniffer dogs, as well as a “Medical team” consisting of Army doctors, nursing staff, and technicians, along with a 30-bed mobile hospital, tents, blankets, and other aid supplies.
These units were sent via the Pakistan Air Force to Adana, Turkey, on the night of February 6th/7th.
Acting on the orders of the Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, the teams will work closely with the Turkish government and military to provide relief to those affected by the earthquakes. The contingents will remain in Turkey until their mission is complete.
