Russia has expressed its keenness to participate in Pakistan’s major hydro-power ventures, including Diamer, Bhasha and Dasu, by providing electro-mechanical equipment, according to a senior official of the Economic Affairs Division.
Moscow has also proposed to provide the machinery for the Diamer-Bhasha Dam Project. At the Inter-Governmental Commission meeting in Islamabad from January 18-20, Russia offered to provide the electro-mechanical machinery.
Pakistan has welcomed Russia’s interest and has sought assistance in developing SCADA systems and distribution system automation for grid facilities. The Dasu stage-II hydro-power project is expected to commence no earlier than 2026.
