Cash splash for visas: US embassy raises application fee

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The US embassy in Islamabad has announced an increase in visa fees, affecting various categories of applications. As of May 30, the fee for petition-based visas, including those for temporary workers (H, L, O, P, and Q), will rise from $190 to $205. Additionally, the fee for e-visas will see an increase from $205 to $315.

In their statement, the embassy highlighted that the fee adjustment is a result of the rising cost of services provided. Recognizing the significant role international travel plays in the US economy, the embassy conducts an annual review to determine the visa fee based on service costs.

Non-immigrant visas, which cater to individuals from Pakistan and other countries seeking temporary entry to the US for various purposes such as tourism, business, study, or specialized work, fall under this fee adjustment.

It’s important to note that all payments made for the non-immigrant visa application fee, also known as the MRV fee, on or after October 1, 2022, remain valid for 365 days from the date of payment receipt. Applicants are required to schedule an interview appointment or submit an interview waiver application within this 365-day period.
