It’s the fundamental requirement of elections to ensure a level playing field for all political parties. Then, it is mandatory to measure the original will of the people. Representation is a sacred trust & high-jacked electioneering is an insult to the people’s will.
A level playing field in electoral politics means that all parties and candidates contesting in an election have equal opportunities to appeal for votes and to carry out election campaigns. It is critical to ensure a level playing field for free and transparent elections because it allows for fair competition between the incumbent and the opposition, and prevents the abuse of state resources, media, and law by the ruling party to gain an unfair advantage.
It is essential to provide a level-playing field to all political parties in Pakistan. Some possible ways to ensure a level playing field for all political parties in Pakistan include establishing an independent and impartial election commission that can oversee the conduct of elections and enforce the rules and regulations.
Providing equal access to public funding, media, and security for all parties and candidates, and limiting the use of private donations and expenditures is critical.
Furthermore, it is also essential to create a robust legal framework that can protect the rights of voters, candidates, and parties, and prevent electoral malpractices such as intimidation, bribery, violence, and fraud.
Promoting a culture of democracy that respects the diversity of opinions, encourages dialogue and debate, and fosters civic education and participation.
Lastly, it is the constitutional and democratic right of all political parties including Imran Khan & Nawaz Sharif to have a level-playing field for contesting coming general elections. It is also important for Pakistan to have a politically stable government and that can only be installed through free and transparent elections. If a level-playing field could not be provided in the coming general elections to all political parties, the credibility of elections will remain questionable. Thus, it will bring a politically unstable & unrepresentative government.
