LAHORE: The bustling city of Lahore is on high alert as heavy monsoon rains make a comeback, prompting the city administration to prepare for possible emergencies.
The day began with a sudden and heavy downpour, flooding the roads and low-lying areas and causing disruptions in daily life.
Citizens were seen wading through the waterlogged streets across the provincial capital.
The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) reported that the heaviest rainfall, up to 201 millimeters, was recorded in the Gulshan-e-Ravi area of Lahore.
Other areas were not spared either, with Air Port receiving 195 millimeters of rain, Tajpura SDO Office area getting 193 millimeters, and Nishtar Town witnessing 190 millimeters of rainfall.

As a result of the intense rain, around 70 feeders of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) tripped, causing power outages in multiple areas.
A spokesperson from LESCO assured that the power supply restoration work would begin promptly.
In response to the situation, interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited various areas of Lahore to assess the impact of the downpour.
