ISLAMABAD: Tomorrow, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is set to make an official trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to attend a special event at Madame Tussauds, where the wax figure of his late mother, the former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, will be unveiled.

During his visit, the foreign minister will meet with his counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to delve into a wide range of topics related to the strong bilateral ties between the two countries, as stated by the Foreign Office on Sunday.

“In Dubai, the Foreign Minister will participate in the unveiling ceremony of the wax figure of the first Pakistani personality, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, at Madame Tussauds,” the statement added.

Benazir Bhutto, who served as Pakistan’s Prime Minister twice, was a trailblazer as the first woman to hold this prestigious position. Tragically, she was assassinated on December 27, 2007, during a gun and bomb attack after her party’s rally in Rawalpindi, just two weeks before the scheduled general election of 2008, in which she was a prominent opposition candidate.

In addition to attending the ceremony, Bilawal will also express his condolences to the UAE leadership on the passing of Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed, the brother of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, the president of the UAE.

The forthcoming visit of the foreign minister underscores the robust relationship between Pakistan and the UAE, fostering beneficial cooperation between the two brotherly nations, the FO emphasized.

“Both countries are dedicated to strengthening their fraternal ties and deepening mutually beneficial economic partnerships,” it further noted.

A day prior to this announcement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif himself paid his respects to the UAE president for the loss of his brother during his one-day trip to the country. He was joined by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and special assistant Tariq Fatemi during this visit.
