President Arif Alvi on Wednesday proposed November 6 as the date for general elections in the country.
In a letter written to Chief Election Commission Sikandar Sultan Raja, the president proposed November 6 as the date for the general elections in the country.
“The president dissolved the National Assembly on the PM’s advice on August 9, 2023.
“WHEREAS Article 48(5) of the Constitution empowers and mandates the President “to fix a date not later than 90 days from the date of the dissolution.,” reads the president’s letter to CEC.
“WHEREAS in terms of Article 48(5), the general election to the National Assembly should be held by the eighty-ninth day of the date of dissolution of the National Assembly, i.e. Monday 6th Day of November 2023,” it added.
