Pro-Khalistan Group Donates $21,000 to Gaza in Memory of Slain Leader

The pro-Khalistan advocacy group, Sikh for Justice (SFJ), has pledged a $21,000 donation to support those affected by the Israeli airstrikes in Gaza.

The Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, located in Canada’s British Columbia, has forwarded this donation to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees.

This contribution is made in memory of Shaheed Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the former president of the Gurdwara, who played a leading role in the Canadian Khalistan referendum campaign. Tragically, Nijjar, a prominent Khalistan advocate, was assassinated by Indian agents on June 18, 2023, in Surrey. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has accused the Indian state of orchestrating this killing on Canadian soil.

In an open letter addressing the donation to the Palestinian people, SFJ leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun expressed solidarity with Sikhs who have faced similar hardships and displacements in Punjab under Indian governance.

SFJ’s general counsel called on the United Nations (UN) to recognize the right to self-determination for both Palestinians and Sikhs.

He emphasized that, once Punjab is liberated from Indian occupation, Sikh principles will ensure that no one in the world suffers from hunger, as Sikh values are rooted in aiding those oppressed and subjected to injustice by occupiers.

Furthermore, SFJ has declared October 21 as a protest day, named “Canada to Palestine, Shutdown Indian Terror Houses.”
