In a remarkable feat, Fakhar Zaman matched the record set by Shahid Afridi for the most sixes in a single one-day international (ODI) innings during Pakistan’s World Cup match against New Zealand.
Fakhar, known for his explosive batting, blazed his way to 11 sixes during the match held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. His incredible six-hitting prowess came at a crucial juncture as Pakistan pursued a daunting target.
Shahid Afridi had originally established this record back in 1996 when he hit 11 sixes in a match against Sri Lanka. Following closely behind is Abdul Razzaq, who achieved 10 sixes against South Africa in 2010. It’s worth noting that Zaman himself had a stellar performance against South Africa in 2021 when he also hit 10 sixes.
