Lahore: Muslim League-N and MQM have formed an electoral alliance and both political parties have announced to contest the upcoming general elections together.

The MQM delegation met Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Nawaz Sharif at the central secretariat in Lahore.

After the meeting, while holding a joint press conference, Saad Rafiq said that MQM and Muslim League-N will fight the February 8 election together.

Earlier, in the meeting between the leaders of the two political parties, the possible electoral alliance between the two parties in Sindh, especially Karachi and Hyderabad, seat adjustment and other issues were discussed, while the overall political situation of the country and the issues of forming a major electoral alliance in Sindh were also discussed. Both the parties agreed to adopt a joint strategy to bring the people of Pakistan out of the current problems and to put Pakistan back on the path of development.

The two parties also decided to set up a six-member committee to prepare a comprehensive charter to address the problems of Sindh province, especially its urban areas.

The committee will present the final proposals for cooperation between the two parties to the leadership within 10 days.

The MQM delegation was led by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and included Dr Farooq Sattar and Mustafa Kamal.

In the Pakistan Muslim League-N delegation, Shahbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Rana Sanaullah, Khawaja Saad Rafiq and other leaders supported Nawaz Sharif.
