Yemen’s Houthi group accused the United States of pressuring shipping companies in the Red Sea to suspend their operations.
Houthi spokesman Mohammad Abd Salam said in a statement that the suspension of operations by shipping companies in the Red Sea is the result of US pressure and threats.
He termed the suspension of shipping operations in the Red Sea as a “false position” and said the action only serves US propaganda.
Several shipping companies have suspended operations in the Red Sea amid attacks on ships suspected of being carried out by the Houthis against Israel.

The US and UK have launched airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen in recent days, raising fears of inflation and supply chain disruptions.
The Houthis say their attacks on commercial ships are aimed at pressuring Israel to halt its deadly assault on the Gaza Strip, which has killed at least 24,285 people since October 7.
The Red Sea is one of the world’s most used sea routes for shipping oil and fuel.
