Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi launched the “Punjab Arms License Management System”.
According to the details, the agreement for the issue of online arms license was signed between the Ministry of Interior Punjab and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
Arms license will be issued online through the new portal and the license will also be renewed and the online portal will also include transfer of license to another name.
Mohsin Naqvi said that such an initiative will prevent corruption in the issue of arms license.
Earlier, caretaker chief minister Sindh Maqbool Baqir had imposed a ban on arms licenses in the province.
On the instructions of caretaker chief minister Sindh Maqbool Baqir, the interior secretary issued the notification. The notification states that the ban will be imposed on the issuance of arms license by district commissioner offices and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
It should be noted that the Supreme Court of Pakistan issued notices to the Attorney General and Advocate General on January 20 and sought a report from the provincial interior secretary and IGs regarding the issue of prohibited weapons within a month.
