Islamabad: Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja has said that if the independent candidates who are successful in the general elections are in the majority, then they can also elect the Prime Minister.

During an informal conversation with the media, the Chief Election Commissioner said that independent candidates are restricted to join the party within 3 days and if they do not join the party within the stipulated time, they will remain independent members.

It should be noted that after the terrorist incidents in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sikandar Sultan Raja made it clear in his statement that the elections will be held on February 8. He had said that there is no need for any ambiguity regarding the election.
