PTI Demands Resignation of Chief Justices of SC and IHC

The legal team of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) convened a press conference in Islamabad on Friday, urgently demanding the immediate resignation of the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa and the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Aamer Farooq. The PTI spokesperson, Raoof Hasan, along with other members of the party’s legal team, underscored the gravity of the letter from six judges, which starkly revealed the coercive tactics employed by intelligence agencies to influence judges. The legal team asserted that this letter has irrefutably demonstrated that the justice system has been rendered inert, and therefore, they insist on the prompt resignation of the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court and Chief Justice of Pakistan, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.

The former ruling party’s demand comes amid controversy whipped up by a letter penned by six IHC judges to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC). The judges revealed the coercive tactics employed by intelligence agencies to influence judges, which sent shockwaves across the legal and political landscape.

PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan highlighted that two days have passed since the letters were written, but the IHC Chief Justice still needs to take action. He also mentioned the crucial role of the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court in the cases against Imran Khan, specifically [details of the cases], and added that he was also mentioned in the letter.

Naeem Haider Panjutha claimed that a 26-hour ‘operation’ was conducted at Imran Khan’s house, during which [specific events or actions took place], but Justice Aamer remained silent. He further stated that on March 28, PTI workers were attacked in the Judicial Complex, and instead of registering a case against the attackers, FIRs were lodged against PTI workers.

Niazullah Niazi commented that the letter proved that the system is paralyzed and demanded immediate resignation from Chief Justice Islamabad High Court and Chief Justice of Pakistan. He further questioned summoning a retired judge to head the inquiry commission. He also stressed that the Constitution of Pakistan is currently paralyzed, which is a grave concern for the whole nation, emphasizing the impact on the nation’s constitution.

He further announced their resolute plan to initiate a widespread movement across Pakistan, symbolized by their intent to knock on the doors of the Supreme Court and the high court. This movement will involve [specific actions or strategies], and Imran Khan has directed them to hold protests nationwide, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to their cause.
