The Pakistani nation is observing Eid ul Adha in solidarity with the people of Gaza who are enduring oppression by Israel, resulting in numerous casualties, including women and children. The Gaza health ministry reported that at least 37,337 Palestinians have been killed and 85,299 injured since Israel’s military offensive began. Despite international pressure for a ceasefire, no agreement has been reached, prolonging the conflict.
Pakistan’s top leadership expressed support for the war-torn nation and the people in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their Eid messages, seeking redressal for their grievances. While Muslims offered prayers for their brethren in the Gulf region, they also engaged in the tradition of animal sacrifice to honor the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
To ensure a peaceful observance of the religious festival, heightened security measures have been implemented across the country, with the deployment of thousands of police personnel.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended warm greetings and emphasized the significance of Eid ul Adha, which commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) unwavering commitment to carry out Allah’s command, teaching the value of selflessness and devotion to Allah. He highlighted the importance of unity and solidarity, urging people to include the less fortunate in their celebrations.
President Asif Ali Zardari also conveyed his felicitations and underscored the significance of Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) unwavering commitment to obey Allah’s command, emphasizing the lesson of remaining firm during trials and tests.
In a separate statement, the Armed Forces of Pakistan, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), and services chiefs extended warm felicitations to all Pakistanis on the occasion of Eid, acknowledging the spirit of sacrifice and paying tribute to the martyrs and ghazis for their sacrifices in serving the nation. They prayed for the continued blessings and protection of Pakistan.
